As life leads us in all directions, we are starting a new chapter and I look forward to many new adventures.
The world of dog shows is complex to say the least. Something that should be enjoyable, is often marred by the jealousy of others. Politics, backstabbing and gossip are not strangers in this world of the dog fancy. We need to keep the fun in what we do, by ignoring those who choose to mar our world with unpleasantry.
Buying a dog, can also entail these traits when one is not careful. Don't jump into something that others want you to jump to. Investigate your breed of choice, but please be aware that there are a vast number of breeders that DO NOT belong to their breed clubs for one reason or the other. This DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE NOT REPUTABLE BREEDERS, it only means they chose not to be a part of a club. Good reputable breeders are those that breed for the betterment of that breed and not for betterment of themselves. Too many times people are led to believe something that is not true. Someone can be on a list of breeders from a breed club, but that does not necessarily mean they are reputable. A reputable breeder is one who cares about health, pedigree, and the betterment of their breed and DOES NOT have to be a member of any breed club to do that. The important issue is that they are members in good standing with our governing body of purebred dogs the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club). Remember it is buyer beware. Do your due diligence,,,ask questions,,,investigate pedigrees, and visit. Don't rely on hearsay from others. |
